BABY FOODS TO CARRRY WHILE TRAVELLING
Gone are the days when people were scared to travel with kids. With improved infrastructure and flexible job environment, better hotel facilities especially for kids has made it even more convenient for the parents and kids as well. When we talk about travelling with kids, the first and foremost thought comes in the mind is WHAT WILL THE BABY EAT? Next comes the choice of clothes and destination. Here in this article, we will discuss the baby foods to carry while travelling.

Travelling has increased with time. Mainly post covid, we can see a good rise in tourism and when we say post covid all we have to be is more careful about the health. Creating lifetime memories with healthy body is what everybody wants. To travel without troubling the baby and you as well make sure to keep the baby full time to time. Fussy and irritated baby spoils the whole fun of travelling so, it is very important to carry the clean and hygienic food for the baby for the easy-going travel.

When we talk about food for travelling, we must understand that there is different food for different age group. So, let’s start with:
3-6 Months old
Below 6 months, there is nothing better than milk. Breast milk or formula one, you can choose depending upon the child’s need. If the child (5 to 6 months old) is comfortable you can offer the vegetable puree or any fruit puree, only when the baby is habitual to it. Do not try anything for the first time. That is big NO.

6-18 Months old
At this age when travelling, baby should not be introduced to many different things. It is better to stick to their normal eating habits to avoid sudden stomach issues like gas, pain etc.
SOME FOODS OPTIONS TO CARRY WHILE TRAVELLING ARE:
Milk
In order to avoid looking for milk brands everywhere, always carry the tetra packed ones because it is tough to get some brands in mountains. Different brands different taste. For the extra care carry the electric kettle along or you can get it even in hotels also.
Fruits/Fruits puree
Fruits are the best option while travelling. For the smaller ones (below 1 year) go for ripe fruits that can be mashed easily like banana, cheeku, papaya, musk melon and more. And same goes for above 1 year but they can eat as it is also (with extra care) you can also add grapes, kiwi etc.
Vegetable puree
For vegetable puree carry the boiled veggies and hot water. Mix the two and it is ready to serve in seconds.
Boiled Dal
You can also carry boiled dal with little ghee tadka and serve in your travel journey.
Homemade Cerelac
Carrying homemade Cerelac and asking the hotel or restaurant to cook for you can be a good option for you kid.
18 Months to 36 Months old
This is the time when children are more energetic and aware of the surrounding. So it is very important to offer something tasty and full filing as well.
Food options to carry while travelling are:
- Milk
- Yogurt
- Thepla
- Fruits
- Boiled eggs
- Paneer
- Laddus (healthy munching option)
- Homemade cookies
- Vegetable/Fruit Puree
- Boiled Dal
- Roasted Makhana
- Homemade Cerelac

3 Years and above
This age group kids are more stable and relaxed. So, while travelling you can offer the same food items as of 18 to 36 Months old along with few options like:
- Roasted chana
- Dry fruits (only when travelling to a colder area)
When there is a food time, make them eat along with you. Offer them something light and digestible.
Breakfast:
- Whole Wheat Bread Butter
- Poha
- Whole Wheat Bread and milk
- Paratha curd
- Idli
Lunch or Dinner:
- Roti dal with some veggies along with curd or raita can be a good and healthy option.
FOODS TO AVOID FOR BABIES WHILE TRAVELLING
- Avoid Oily, Spicy, Gassy foods.
- A big NO for white flour (Maida)
- A big NO for the oily Paneer Sabji at the restaurant at the hotel
- Heavy undigested food
